AGCS Awarded $10,000 Grant from Lockheed Martin for PLTW

Project Lead the Way logoAvon Grove Charter School has been awarded a $10,000 grant from Lockheed Martin to increase participation in high school Project Lead The Way engineering courses, along with the purchase of equipment for the courses.

AGCS offers high school students the opportunity to explore engineering and design by enrolling in one of three PLTW high school engineering classes. These courses bring real-world experience to the classroom while challenging students to solve problems, apply science and technology, and build skills in human-centered design. Students learn to apply an engineering design process and become proficient at computer-aided design (CAD) and state-of-the-art technology to build prototypes.

PLTW is a nonprofit organization that serves millions of PreK-12 students and teachers in schools across the U.S. by providing transformative learning experiences, hands-on STEM courses and engaging professional development for teachers.

In 2022, AGCS was recognized as a 2021-22 PLTW Distinguished Launch School. AGCS is one of just 282 schools across the U.S., and one of only five in Pennsylvania, to receive this honor for providing broad access to transformative learning opportunities for students through PLTW Launch.

Avon Grove Charter School is part of a community of PreK-12 schools, colleges and universities, and corporate and philanthropic partners across the country united around a passion for providing students with inspiring, engaging, and empowering learning opportunities.
