Graduation Requirements

In order to qualify for a diploma from Avon Grove Charter School all students must meet the following requirements:

1. Successful completion of 23 total required academic credits

  • 4.0 credits  English
  • 3.0 credits  Math
  • 4.0 credits  Social Studies/History
  • 3.0 credits  Science
  • 4.0 credits  Humanities
  • 0.5 credit   Health
  • 0.5 credit   Physical Education
  • 4.0 credits  Electives

2. Beginning with the Class of 2023, students shall also be required to comply with specific Keystone Exam requirements in order to be eligible to graduate.

3. Beginning with the Class of 2024, a student must complete a comprehensive College and Career Portfolio showcasing her/his exploration, awareness, learning, growth, and readiness for continuing education or employment upon graduation, in addition to satisfactorily completing the credits set forth above and the Keystone Exam requirements. Part of a student’s culminating portfolio will be the completion of an experiential Work-Based Learning experience completed during their high school career.

A student will not be permitted to participate in the graduation ceremony if he/she has not successfully completed all of the above requirements and cleared all outstanding fees/balances applied to their school account. The deadline for completion is determined on a yearly basis depending on the graduation ceremony date. 

Keystone Pathways to Graduation

The state of Pennsylvania has required students to show proficiency in three Keystone Exams in order to graduate: Algebra I, Biology, and Literature. If students are unable to meet proficiency after testing or have opted out of any exam, they will be required to complete an alternate pathway. Culminating Portfolio Requirement

Beginning with the class of 2024, AGCS students will be required to complete a comprehensive College and Career Portfolio which will serve as a core graduation requirement.  This College and Career Portfolio will showcase her/his exploration, awareness, learning, growth, and readiness for continuing education or employment upon graduation. This is a requirement for graduation no matter a student’s enrollment date/grade with AGCS.  Part of a student’s culminating portfolio will be an experiential Work-Based Learning experience completed during their high school career. Additional information related to the College and Career Portfolio can be obtained via the School Counseling office.
