AGCS offers a convenient, online payment option for fees. These fees can be for for technology, athletics, lost books, or other items. Please see our Online Fee Payment How-To for step-by-step instructions.

We keep an updated list of letter days right here on our website. You can reach it from the For Parents menu at the top of our home page or the Parent Hub, under Quick Links. When school is canceled (snow day,) we do not skip the letter day; it moves to the next school day. For example if Tuesday is "C" day and school is canceled, Wednesday will be "C" day, Thursday will be "D" day, and so on.

State Road Campus (4th-12th grade) is 7:35 AM - 2:20 PM

Early Learning Center at Kemblesville (K-3rd grade) is 8:30 AM - 3:15 PM
      The ELC office is open 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

The school day times are different for our two campuses to allow our feeder districts time for buses.

Buses should arrive approximately three hours early.

No; unfortunately, there is not enough time. We recommend that students bring a bagged lunch or hearty snack.

Of course we would rather your child attend school, but if you are unable to provide transportation, it will not be counted as an absence. In this case only, it is not necessary to send a note to school because our Attendance office is aware of which districts are closed.

For the safety of our students and staff, we require your driver's license if you will be entering the building past the front desk or if you are picking up your child. If you are simply dropping off an item at the front desk, you do not need your driver's license.

 

Unless it's otherwise specified on the form, please make your check out to Avon Grove Charter School. Place your check and any paperwork (permission slips, deposit slips, etc.) in an envelope clearly marked with:

Student safety is the highest priority at AGCS. We have a robust School Safety Plan and regularly scheduled practice drills that are designed to prepare students without frightening them. We have installed security fences and monitored camera systems to provide a high level of security. We now require all visitors to have their driver's license scanned through the Raptor system, then they are issued visitor badges for easy identification. Absoulutely! Many of our families have multiple children here. We offer a complete, full-day Kindergarten through 12th grade education.

We also offer a self-guided Virtual Tour for those who would like to explore our schools from the safety of their own homes during.

Avon Grove Charter School holds a lottery in the spring for the following school year. If your child's name is drawn, you will be notified immediately by email. Please visit our Lottery Process webpage for all of the details.

Charter schools are privately managed public schools that are authorized by Pennsylvania Act 22 and by Federal Law. Charter Schools are independent of the district and are governed by their own Board of Trustees, who are held directly accountable for the goals outlined in its charter. They are authorized by a public district (for us, Avon Grove School District,) and must report to the authorizing district once each year. No. Private schools require families to pay tuition. Charter schools are publicly funded and any student in Pennsylvania may attend.

No. As a public school in Pennsylvania, Avon Grove Charter School cannot charge for educational services. Visit our Charter School Funding page to learn how funding flows to charter schools.

Transportation is available from the following districts: Avon Grove, Oxford, Kennett, Octorara, Unionville, and Coatesville. While any student from Pennsylvania may attend Avon Grove Charter School students who do not come from the above-mentioned districts must rely upon their families to transport them.

Kindergarten hovers around 23-24. However every Kindergarten class has an aide and students receive enrichment or supportive services throughout the course of the day. Middle school classes average 15-18 students per teacher, and high school classes may enjoy a 1-14 ratio.

The administrative and school governance structure at Avon Grove Charter School is streamlined, so that serious disciplinary issues are dealt with in a speedy and effective manner. Throughout the course of its existence, AGCS has had very few disciplinary issues of any serious gravity.

We are incredibly proud of our strong PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program in which we constantly encourage and reward students who demonstrate positive behavior. We want to catch them doing the right things and making good decisions, then recognize them for it! This focus on the positive is effective in deterring negative behaviors.

Yes! Our Athletics program is offered to our Middle and High School students. Our Upper School provides a wide variety of student-run clubs to enrich our students' school experience. Other activities are provided by outside contractors, including Soccer Shots, Young Rembrants, Girls on the Run, Science Explorers, and more.

Yes. Pease refer to your division's Student Handbook for details. We do not have uniforms, but we have restrictions for the safety and well-being of our students.

The Avon Grove Charter School PTO is very active and offers a variety of opportunities for parents to become involved in the AGCS community. We also have the AGCS Sports Boosters Club to help raise funds for our sports programs and more.

The Avon Grove Charter School PTO offers a wide variety of opportunities for parents to participate in school events and activities. Parents may also volunteer in individual classrooms as Teachers make volunteer opportunities available to parents throughout the year.

Yes. We offer tutoring as well as a variety of other support for our students. Many of our teachers are tutors! We keep a list in our Key Parent Documents & Forms.

Avon Grove Charter School students do very well on standardized assessments and have consistently scored first or second among charter schools throughout Chester County. It is one of a select few charter or public schools to make adequate yearly progress for six consecutive years. Charter School students are required to take the same Pennsylvania standardized tests as traditional public schools.

Our past and present graduate percentage of Avon Grove Charter School students being accepted at a 4-year college is over 90%. This places AGCS above all regional public high schools.
