Before and After Care Program
Our Before & After Care Program's mission is to provide our students with a safe and nurturing environment where our dedicated teachers and staff will help them grow, play and learn.
AGCS' child care program is not babysitting; it's a robust, planned program run by our outstanding classroom teachers, specialist teachers, instructional assistants, and Junior or Senior students who are chosen for an educational internship. This provides consistency for your child because our staff are already familiar to them and you. We love our AGCS families! Since the program is run at school, students enjoy a safe, convenient, clean environment and all of the resources of our facility, including the bike path, Micro Farm, nature trail, technology, library, and STEM rooms. Students are part of a tightly knit, diverse community of children from different residential school districts, who are learning to accept each other and embrace differences.
The AGCS Before & After Care Program provides:

- Center-based activities for small group interaction
- Thematic units and celebrations
- PBIS Rewards - Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
- Nutrition and exercise programs
If there's something unique your child needs, we have the flexibility to provide it.
Our child care teachers work in partnership with parents and communicate on a regular basis. Communication will occur through regular school communication methods: email, our website, and Facebook. Our school and student policies (such as health, discipline, and medication) also apply to our child care program.

Arrival/Pick-up Procedure
Parents are required to sign their child ineach day. For the safety of the children, staff will ask for a photo ID from any person not recognized. Children will be supervised at all times while in the school building.
Late Pick Up
Our school buildings close promptly at 6:00 PM. If an emergency situation prevents a parent from picking up a child on time, a parent or guardian must contact our staff. A late fee of $1.00 per minute, per child, will be charged if a child is not picked up by closing.
Before & After Care Schedule
Early Learning Center at Kemblesville (K-3rd grade)
Before Care: 7:00 AM - 8:05 AM
After Care: 3:15 PM - 6:00 PM
State Road Campus* (4th-6th grade)
After Care only: 2:15 PM - 6:00 PM
*students will be transported to the Early Learning Center
at Kemblesville for After Care. Pick up will be at the ELC.
Child care is not available on holidays and days when school is not in session however, we DO provide child care on planned early dismissal days (half days.)
There will be times when AGCS opens late or closes early due to inclement weather. Before care will not operate if there is a delay. In the event of an early dismissal, we will monitor the weather conditions and make a decision for after care based on weather severity; we will contact our after care families directly.
Registration & Payments
Students who are currently enrolled at AGCS in K-6th grade are eligible to enroll in our child care programs by reading the handbook and completing and submitting the Registration Form. Tuition payments are due within a week of receipt of your invoice, September through June. A late fee of $15.00 will be assessed if payment is not received on time.
We offer two convenient payment options:
• Cash or check, payable to AGCS, in an envelope marked "Before & After School Care," your child's name, and homeroom.
• Online payment - please note, our fee payment system charges a $2.65 fee per transaction.
My son started attending after care in 2021 and we have had nothing but great experiences! We adore Mrs. Horne, who runs the program. She is always arranging for special activities, which makes it even more fun for the kids. My son always says YES to staying on half days and even wanted to attend summer camp this year. The staff arranged for theme weeks and the kids were even able to take field trips. We love having the childcare option at ELC knowing our son is in great hands and having a blast while there!

Foam Party!!
There are many reasons to love Avon Grove Charter School. One that tops very high on our list is their amazing Before & Aftercare program. This program is unique and run by the wonderful, kind and caring AGCS staff, whom I cannot say enough about. They've designed a program so enriching and entertaining, that my daughter dislikes being picked up "too early" from aftercare. The fact that AGCS offers such a convenient, flexible program shows their commitment to their students.
