Personal Finance
Investing in Their Future

We are excited to announce the launch of this new, essential addition to our High School curriculum in the 2026-2027 school year. In allignment with Pennsylvania Act 35, all 11th grade students will now complete a dedicated course in Personal Finance, which will be required for graduation.
We know that adulting comes with a steep learning curve. From understanding a first paycheck to navigating the complexities of student loans, the financial decisions our students make in the next few years will impact them for decades. This course is designed to move beyond the classroom and into the real world.
We've intentionally placed this course in their junior year. This is the time when many students are securing their first jobs, getting their driver's licenses, and beginning to receive college or trade school mailings. By teaching these skills now, we'll provide the tools they need, exactly when they need them most.
Course Elements

The Paycheck Reality Check: students will learn how to read paystubs, understand tax withholdings, and manage take-home pay.

The Power of Credit: students will understand the importance of building a healthy credit score and how interest rates can either work for you or against you.

Investing for the Future: students will explore the stock market, compound interest, and why starting a retirement fund at age 18 is a million-dollar idea.

Navigating Debt: students will evaluate the true cost of car loans and making informed, strategic decisions regarding secondary education financing.
