Many of our teachers use TalkingPoints to help stay connected with families through easy, two-way communication. TalkingPoints allows parents/guardians and teachers to send and receive text messages via the app, on the web, or text messaging. The platform also offers automatic translation in dozens of languages, helping ensure families stay informed and engaged in their child's education.

If your child’s teacher is using talking points you will receive a text message from the teacher at the beginning of the school year.  You can respond to the message directly in text or use the Talking Points App.  A code is not required.

To take advantage of this useful communication tool, visit the TalkingPoints Families webpage.

School Messenger Logo

We use SchoolMessenger to deliver important school communications to families via email, phone, and text (if you opt-in.) SchoolMessenger is used for:

  • Weather-related announcements
  • Emergency notifications
  • School updates
  • Reminders
  • Other important information

To ensure you receive these messages, please make sure your contact information is up-to-date in PowerSchool. Everyday messages will be sent via e-mail.

Opting-In to Text Messages

Families can opt-in to receive text message (SMS) notifications by texting
"Y" or "YES" to 67587.
Only select, time-sensitive messages will come as an SMS message.

  • Inclement weather-related school closures
  • Transportation changes
  • Emergency communications

Staying opted in will make certain you are quickly notified of urgent  communications. If you opted-in in error, you can opt-out by texting "stop" to 67587.

Submitting Absences through SchoolMessenger

The SchoolMessenger app also allows parents and guardians to conveniently report attendance changes and absences directly from their mobile device.

  1. Download the mobile app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, or download it directly from SchoolMessenger
  2. Create an account with the email linked to your parent portal account
  3. Once in the app or desktop, click Attendance.
  4. Submit your child's absence

Troubleshooting

If you are not receiving our communications, please first check your SPAM folder. Frequently if you use your work email, a business or corporation may filter the message to SPAM. A best practice would be to set your preferred email in PowerSchool to a personal email address as opposed to a business email address. You may do this by logging in to the Parent Portal and updating your contact information in your account.

If our messages are rerouted to SPAM or JUNK, you can mark our sending email address as trusted. Please refer to your email provider for instructions.

If you are still not receiving messages, please enter a support request ticket into Incident IQ.
